GIFT CARDS With the Pro or Network version: 1) Create a product as normal only select Gift Card instead of Sell.
2) You may set a fixed price or have a prompt asking the cashier to enter the amount. Check the box Price Prompt.
3) Now you sell the gift card product. The cashier will be prompted to enter the serial# after Finishing the sale.
4) On the next visit the customer can use the gift card as a payment type. Use the Finish button and press the Gift Card payment button. |

But when you sell a gift card, the register doesn't total the amount. ie: You set up a product "Gift Card" say £5.00. It redeems OK as a payment method but when originally selling it to the customer, when you complete the sale, the gift card value is "0" and you are not prompted for payment type so very easy for staff to forget to take money for it. |

You either have the card amount fixed by giving it a price just like any other product. Or, check the box "Prompt for Price". Read #2 carefully. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Does anybody have any experience with creating/purchasing "Gift Cards" and are willing to share what they did, and any suggestions from their experience(s)? Did you purchase cards? Did you create cards? if so how? |

You can buy pre-made gift cards. They just need a unique serial# on each. The serial# should also have a 'Enter' key as the last character. |

We simply use the sale number and that also helps track the sale history.

Reply with quote | #8 | For whats its worth, we're special gift cards for Xmas. We use the business card stock from local office supply store. Then with an image we print for the front, we just laminate them using business card pouches. For the bar code I use the free bar code font (http://www.idautomation.com/fonts/free/) and just generate about 20 or 30 at a time. |

What if the customer has multiple stores in the same area. How can the one store know if the gift card was used at the other? |

This version does not support multiple stores. At some point version 11 is scheduled to support gift cards at multiple stores; but there is no date set. |
